As part of Social Beat Club, a music club for young people with special needs in North London, The London Cosmos got together in the Autumn 2016. Music Tutor/SBC manager Tommy Smidt had heard that Jonathan was keen on playing drums. At the first rehearsal we talked about kind of music we like, he put on “Rock N Roll High School” by The Ramones..! He later mentioned New York Dolls and more heavy bands such as Anthrax, Metallica and Exodus! So a mutual taste in music was founded there and then.

Turned out that he had a special talent for classic rock drumming and big long proper rock n roll endings...Pretty soon we needed a singer/front man...
Enter Owen. He was recommended by staff who had heard him sing in the playground and in lessons. First step was Tommy with an acoustic guitar and him in the playground during a lunch break, on the spot he came up with lyrics and a melody for a song about a guy moving from Kansas to LA.  He was asked if he wanted to join the band and happily agreed. As with Jonathan it soon turned out that there was more mutual taste in music in place. He refered to such diverse bands and performers as David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Prince, AC/DC and Nirvana.

First rehearsal together we couldn't be in our rehearsal room because of builders, so we gathered with an acoustic guitar voices and a tambourine. We started jamming and we wrote three original songs in 45 minutes...! A band was born!

The Christmas sessions:

Amazed by the sheer creative flow coming from the boys, the next session we continued to work on those songs with the full drum kit etc., but again creativity took over and we wrote the first Christmas song “All alone”. A sad classic rock ballad with some lyrics about a person who's got no one around him on Christmas eve

Owen then felt that the song was a bit depressing and suggested we should write a happy Christmas song. Next session we jammed a bit and quickly ended up with an upbeat straight forward sing-a-long punk rock song in the vein of The Ramones.

As it was already the 7th of December when we wrote “It's Christmas time”, we had to act fast for people to actually be able to hear the songs before the holidays. Two days later we recorded the songs with help from our producer/website wizard Juan Carlos! We only had a few hours on our hand, but the boys nailed the songs in a few takes...Amazing!
So what you get to hear is demos of songs that have only been rehearsed 4-5 times and recorded with one microphone in the room. So these are a the raw sounds of The London Cosmos, not perfect but certainly shows the talent these boys have.

So that's where we are at now:

-A brand new band
-A brand new website
-Two talented young musicians
-Two original Christmas songs for free...What's not to like!

Please show your support and download the songs for free

Thanks in advance and we hope you will enjoy the songs we have written.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
